"What Do We Do On This Day?"

It all started when we declared Friday night as movie night. Thereafter, we've been asked regularly "what day is it?", in hopes that it is Friday.

Since our little guy is so fond of routines and schedules, I thought about giving each day its own little special something. For example, we've made Mondays about art, Thursdays about bath time and computer games, and Saturdays about music and outside play. So I've rigged up a visual calendar of sorts. It needs some work; more magnets and some better photos. But it seems to do the trick.

It's nice to have the flexibility of swapping out activities too. For the past couple of weeks I've set up the upcoming week's activities on Sunday and we go through it together several times during the week. This Sunday for example is all about packing TRUNKI for our Cuba trip on Monday. He seems to take a real comfort in knowing his wee evening/weekend schedule and he shows a real curiosity in what each day will bring. Although Fridays are still a clear favourite.
