Friday Night Shorts: Stop Motion Plants

We have 2 shorts this week, in honour of Spud's current "Unit of Inquiry" at school. Plants! First, a short and sweet stop motion of a 3 little plants growing from seed. And second, a gorgeous little video showing one urban family's organic garden transform over the course of one year.

Playful Learning: Put Ups + Put Downs

OUR PUT-UPS STATION

We've signed up for another Playful Learning eCourses! Love these courses. This one is called Put-ups and Put-downs. As a bonus, the subject matter supports a very similar message they are working on in Spud's class this year so the timing is perfect!

First I watched the parents' video to learn a bit about the concept, which is really quite simple; sharing how words and behaviour have the power to effect someone else's feelings (with an important reminder to watch our own words and actions as parents!).

Next, Spud and I watched the kids' video, which is very well done. It's engaging (and adorable) and successfully got the message across to Spud, loud and clear. Next we participated in an online activity to support what we learned. And finally, as suggested, we've set up a little Put-ups Station (using free printables) where we've been having endless fun making put-up notes for each other.

My 365 Grateful Project: Week #52

PLAYING WITH THE POWER OF GRATITUDE
Find Something For Which to Be Grateful. Take a Picture of It. Repeat 365 times.

Well. The final week has come and gone. I managed to find things for which to be grateful ... every day ... for a year. I wasn't a 100% confident I would make it to the end; I'm glad I did.

It wasn't actually ever hard to find things to be grateful for. What was more challenging was finding something that also would make an interesting photo. I didn't always meet my expectations there. But I do have some favourites. I look forward to an upcoming post detailing some of the discoveries during this project. But the biggest take-away, of course, is to be reminded just how lucky I am.

So, I'm glad I did it but am I going to miss my grateful project? Not really. I'm sure there will be times when I can't help myself but document some of those simple and amazing moments that show up here and there. So I'm going to reinstate my "Makes Me Happy" photos that I used to post here on random Wednesdays (like magnetic poetrya boy and his inchworm, dutch oven tower, fall hike at lighthouse park) — of the same vein, really, but without the everyday pressure.

Anyway, here are the photos of my final week, oh, and one vine video:

DAY 358: April 29, 2013  |  Happy little clouds. #365grateful

DAY 359April 30, 2013  |  From sweet and cuddly to totally psychotic in the blink of an eye. Love her. #365grateful

DAY 360May 1, 2013  |  I sure am glad I learned how to tie a tie somewhere along in life because Hubs is out of town and we couldn't find the clip-on! #365grateful

DAY 362May 3, 2013  |  What!? Just got a delivery in the mail from our counter top people. A matching cheese board! #365grateful

DAY 363May 4, 2013  |  A little pre-dinner serenade, Slippery Fish en EspaƱol. #365grateful #vine (note, doesn't look like I can post vine video here, so we'll have to use our imagination)

DAY 364May 5, 2013  |  Gorgeous day for a family bike and Potato's first ride! First of many! #365grateful

DAY 365May 6, 2013  |  It was a year ago I started my #365grateful project with a post on getting my learners (again!). Fitting, then, that my last post is about taking driving lessons (finally!)
