Math Printable: Make the Biggest Number

Last week was Spud's student led conference which was such a treat. The whole experience was so inspiring, in large part due to Spud's grade 2 teacher, Ms. C. Yay for wonderful teachers! He gave us a tour of his classroom, showed us some key journal entries, his portfolio, taught us a game in Spanish and we played this fun math game that's all about learning place value. It was so fun that I made a printable for it to share.

How to play: Roll a die and decide which column to put the number in: ones, tens, or hundreds. Take turns until each person has a 3 digit number.

It was Spud's idea to make a version for 4 digit numbers. He wants me to make one for 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 too. Ha! But to start, the pdf for 3 and 4 digits is here under "games".

Envelope Templates for Writing Bin

Here's Spud's new Mailbox bin, similar to his Poetry Box but more about writing letters to family and friends. Once again I've been inspired by Playful Learning

Scroll down to see what's inside and to download the templates I made to make these envelopes, liners and note cards.

Here I am cutting and folding. For the envelope liners I used some decorative paper we had on hand but also some cool textures I found in an old magazine.

Letter writing is not Spud's favourite thing in the world to do, yet, but by filling the bin with little note cards for secret messages as well as stencils and stickers, well, sometimes he just can't resist.

The writing bin inside:

CONTENTS
· alphabet reference sheet
· stencils
· two sets of dollar store stationery packages
(blue clouds and orange city themes)
· pens, pencils, scissors, glue, cute erasers that he will never use but loves anyway
· stamps and return address labels

Adding a set of pencil crayons to draw with and a few postcards is on my list of things to add.

For your downloadable envelope set template, click here.

This has been too much fun, I hope to make more templates for his writing bin in the future! In the meantime, hope you enjoy this. Please leave a note, I would love to hear from you.

Write-A-Spooky-Poem

Getting in the mood for halloween over here! So I took our recent Write-A-Poem printable and customized it with some terribly spooky words. Now it's Write-A-Spooky-Poem printable which you can find here.

Spud was more into drawing than "wording" on this day so we changed things up a bit — I quietly took notes on what he was saying while he was drawing and wrote them down, poem-like.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN
Crooked house. Stinky and smelly. Green slime goo.
Angry skulls. A yard full of scary rib bones.
Floating witch's hat and a giant pumpkin with wings says "Boo".
Smokey cobwebs everywhere.
Happy Halloween.

Free Lunch Box Notes for Downloading

In anticipation of school starting soon, I've designed a few lunch box notes to include in Spud's bentos. And I'm making them available to download for anyone who is interested. The first page of the pdf has little sayings on each note.

The second page has blanks spots for a personalized message.

I'm going to try making these re-usable with some lamination and dry-erase pens.

Click on the wee printables button on the side bar for your copy. A comment would be lovely. Have fun!

More Halloween Fun

FREE PRINTABLES | HALLOWEEN CRAFTINESS
These paper dolls already have a pretty extensive, albeit casual, wardrobe. Perhaps some evening wear is in order. In the meantime, yesterday, the little girl donned her new Halloween costume selection.

Now it's the boy's turn: I've decked him out as a skeleton, a robot, and a mummy. These ones are less about colouring than the girl's costumes, as it turns out. Although, my little guy will probably want to make the mummy and skeleton more colourful when he sees them tomorrow morning.

Again, the x-acto comes in handy.

Hubs thinks it's quite funny that this skeleton only has one bone in each arm. So, it's just not going to help much in your wee ones' anatomy lesson.

Halloween Paper Dolls

FREE PRINTABLES | HALLOWEEN CRAFTINESS

I'm so excited with these little Halloween costumes I made for the paper dolls. So far I have a ghost, vampire, and super hero costume for the girl. I'm working on a robot, mummy, and skeleton costume for the boy that I will post on later. I whipped these up after Spud went to sleep tonight so I will surprise him with them tomorrow.

For the ghost, I dried out a baby wipe and clued it to the printout before cutting it out. The x-acto knife came in handy for cutting out the eyes.

For the vampire outfite, I coloured both sides of the cape tabs since they fold in the front. The little jacket over top the dress and cape does a decent job in holding it all together.

The super hero boots are just too much. I would love a pair for myself!

I have these pdfs available at wee printables. or click on the "wee printables" button on the sidebar. Happy Halloween!
